Maryland - Financial Relief for Family Caregivers
 

Arc of Anne Arundel County - offers financial assistance in the purchase of medical supplies, counseling, respite care and crisis intervention services for families with children who have special needs. Contact them at 410-268-8085.

Charles County Department of Social Services - offers temporary financial assistance, medical assistance, food stamps, child support, and social services for people in need. Contact them at 301-392-6400 or 877-871-1177.

Communities in Action Inc. - Silver Spring - offers emergency services such as financial assistance for rent, utilities, medical and transportation expenses. Provides food, clothing, and referrals to other community services. Call them at 301-603-1545.

Community Action Council of Howard County - offers emergency services such as financial assistance for rent, utilities, medical and transportation expenses. Provides food, clothing, and referrals to other community services. Contact them at 410-313-6440.

Community Ministries of Rockville - Rockville Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) provides financial assistance for rent, utilities, food, medication, and other needs. Contact them at 301-762-8682 Ext. 104 or 106.

Community Ministry of Montgomery County - provides information and referral, clothing, and financial assistance to children and adults. Call 301-762-8682.

Harford County Government - Department of Community Services - offers financial assistance and other emergency assistance services including Coats for Kids, baby items, Back to School Assistance, Free Furniture Program, Food Drives, and Clothing Resources for families and individuals in crisis situations. Call 410-638-3374.

Helping Children with Special Needs, Inc. (PACT) - offers medical child care services, therapeutic child care for homeless families with infants and toddlers, and a supported parenting program for parent with intellectual disabilities. Contact them by 410-298-7000, email: myers@kennedykrieger.org.

Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs - offers food vouchers, clothing vouchers, prescription assistance, crisis intervention, and information and referral service for people in need. Call 301-694-6968.

Samaritan Center - offers a variety of services including referral, advocacy, counseling, financial assistance services to needy individuals and families in Baltimore City. Contact them at 410-659-4013.

Shore-Up!, Inc. - offers financial assistance, counseling and referral services to needy individuals and families. Call them at 410-749-1142.

Silver Spring Wheaton - HELP - provides food, referrals to health, financial assistance, prescriptions, and baby items to children and adults. Contact them at 301-585-4357.

The Assistive Technology Guaranteed Loan Program - provides financial assistance to Maryland residents with disabilities and their families who qualify for low-interest loans to buy equipment that helps them live, work, and learn more independently. Contact them toll-free 800-832-4827.

UCP of Southern Maryland - Financial Aid Program - provides direct financial help to both children and adults with disabilities (and their families), so they may realize or maintain independence. Also, provides assistance in purchasing many services and resources, including adaptive equipment, day care, home care, tuition, health services and transportation to all disabled individuals living in Southern Maryland. Anchor of Hope - Baltimore - Operation Blessing - provides limited financial assistance for rent or mortgage payments, emergency needs in situations of catastrophic loss (fire, flood, earthquake), utility bills (water, electricity, gas). Requests will only be considered if a letter is attached from a pastoral or agency representative. Payments will be sent directly to the creditor. Contact them at 410-655-4995.  


Private Fuel Funds - there are non-federal dollars available from local fuel funds, obtained from others throughout the state of Maryland who make contributions into this fund when paying their own utility bill. Ask the state energy assistance office for the local phone number of the fuel fund nearest you, or go to www.nationalfuelfunds.org. You can also contact one of the following in order to find out more information on how to qualify for financial assistance regarding your fuel bill:
