A noted speaker, writer and publisher on caregiving issues since 1995, Gary Barg is Founder and Editor-In-Chief of the first national magazine for caregivers, Today’s Caregiver, as well the original online caregiver community, caregiver.com. Today’s Caregiver magazine and caregiver.com combine information, advice and reader’s stories and interviews with celebrity caregiver includeing Leeza Gibbons, Rob Lowe, Dana Reeve, Barbara Eden and Debbie Reynolds, among others. Gary created The Fearless Caregiver Conferences, hosted across the country, which brings together caregivers to share their knowledge and experience. His book The Fearless Caregiver is filled with practical advice, poetry and inspirational stories.
Gary currently serves on the Board of Trustees of several organizations and has received many awards including the Mature Media Award for Writing.
His interviews include; The Today Show, Bloomberg Radio Network, Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and the Miami Herald. Wendy Bellack is the founder of Family Network on Disabilities of Broward County, FL, a support organization for parents of children with special needs. She has designed and implemented programs that educate families about the joys and frustrations of raising a child with disabilities and provides advocacy services to ensure that every child is receiving the services they need to help them reach their maximum potential. She is the mother of two children, her daughter Jill, 20 and son Steven, 21, who has autism.
Terry Abrams Berger maintains offices in North Miami Beach and Plantation where she practices in the areas of elder law, guardianship, probate, trust administration, estate planning, wills and trusts. With her low key and balanced approach, she has gained much respect and confidence with the elderly in assisting them with complex issues dealing with the aging process. She assesses each client’s circumstance individually, with care and compassion, and provides a customized approach to fulfill the needs of the family. Ms. Berger frequently speaks to civic and community groups on various topics within her area of legal expertise.
Gary Dechent is the Director for ADT Home Health Security Services. Mr. Dechent has held a wide variety of management and executive positions in the electronic security industry dating back to 1976. Since joining ADT Companion Services in 1995, he has helped to develop the business unit’s growth from a small, mostly government provider of PERS services to a
nationwide network of ADT sales representatives and a support team of over 50 employees based in Palm Harbor, FL with a strategy to provide a variety of innovative services designed to assist subscribers as they safely age in place.
Dr. Gannon, a low vision specialist, is a graduate of Miami University and the Illinois College of Optometry. He is the chairman of the low vision committee of the state of Florida and a panel member of the Florida State Division of Blind Services. He has 25 years experience in the fielding the tri-county area, serving on boards of directors of many professional organizations. His mission is to help patients to better cope with a visual disability, which includes the latest technology and counseling. Through Dr. Gannon’s expertise, and a comprehensive low vision evaluation, his patients learn that there is life after macular degeneration.
Dr. Roberts received his M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital of Miami Beach. He then worked as Director and staff physician in several Emergency Departments in South Florida before joining Humana as an Associate Medical Director since 1988.
Aimee N Staley is a Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Memory Disorder Center at North Broward Medical Center and with Neurologic Consultants, P.A.. Dr. Staley completed her post - doctoral fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and her post doctoral residency at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, Florida. In 2003 she completed a 3 year research study of the Role of Social Engagement and the Progression of Mild Cognitive Impairment. She is actively involved in the Caregiver Assistance Programs at North Broward Medical Center
Lisa is a pharmacist who led a very interactive "Ask the Parmacist" session as part of the luncheon program.
