Thanksgiving in Turbulent Times/
Editorial List
As our nation embarks on
a suddenly different holiday season filled with a mixture of sadness and
joy, despair and hope and courage and fear, I realize that for many
caregivers, these are the normal emotions we experience when entering
the holiday season every year. For caregivers, most holidays are
celebrated in turbulent times; will your loved one be able to make the
trip? Will your family members understand what you have been living
through the rest of the year? This year, will there be a semblance of
the tranquility associated with “traditional” thanksgiving
feasts?
For all of our sakes, I
really hope so. I do believe that this holiday season, starting with
Thanksgiving, we must all reflect upon our shared experiences over the
past few months, and give thanks. Thanks for each other; for the love
that shines through the grief and for each moment of connectedness,
among us as a nation; between nations and with one other. Personally, I
am thankful for being able to say that I am able to communicate with
heroes each and every week and have for the past seven years. I am
thankful for knowing you.
Happy Thanksgiving
