Schooling the Doctors

We need to be ever-vigilant with regard to medication adherence and let our doctors know about all of the medications and vitamins we or our loved ones are taking, including those we buy over-the-counter.

Lesson Two: Wendy is a family caregiver who joined us at a recent Fearless Caregiver Conference. When the topic of conversation swung around to doctor office interactions, she said the greatest weapon in her arsenal is actually a pocket tape recorder. Once the doctor starts talking, she whips out the recorder and sets in on the table, making sure to click on the record button. As I always say, this is the time when you can be sure to hear any doctor speaking slowly, concisely and clearly.

Well, now that September is around the corner, I guess school is in session for caregivers as well as our kids and grandkids. These first lessons were offered up by Professors Mindy and Wendy.

And yes, there will be tests. Plenty of them.
