Let’s Do the Time Shift Again
One caregiver wants to visit with
her 92-year-old mother in Canada for what could be
their last holiday together, but could not figure
how to tell her husband (who is living with
Alzheimer’s disease and for whom the trip would be
too great a challenge) that he would not be able to
go with her. After she received a lot of help and
advice from her fellow caregivers in attendance, she
said, “I think I always knew how to make this
happen, but was too wracked with guilt to think it
through.”
Guilt. Now that’s one gift
that caregivers don’t need, don’t deserve and is
worthy of being returned as soon as it is delivered.
For all of our friends, loved ones
and fellow caregivers who have been affected by
Hurricane Sandy, you are in our thoughts and
prayers. Stay safe.
