As I travel the nation hosting the
Fearless Caregiver Conferences over the past 21
years, I have learned about so many terrific
campaigns designed to support family caregivers. I
look forward to sharing the work of these caregiving
advocates in this column on a regular basis:
- Take a look at the special focus in the
USATODAY this week on family caregiving.
Proud to be asked to be part of the effort.
- My good friend Chris McMillen, also known as
"The Bow Tie Guy," who like so many of us,
started his mission to support family caregivers
as a caregiver himself. Chris has created a life
to love after caregiving ends through writing,
radio advocacy and now coming this month with
TLO Travel and Tours, where Caregivers Travel!
I look forward to joining him and his group on
trips to some really wonderful places!
- Twenty-one years ago when we started our
mission to support family caregivers, we were
one of the very few voices in the wilderness
yelling,” The caregivers are coming. The
caregivers are coming.” One of the voices who
has been with us from the start has been Denise
Brown, a caregiver advocate and good friend and
ally. I am excited about joining her at her
National Caregiver Conference in Chicago
early next month.
- Dr. Connie Siskowski has always been another
advocate, friend and ally since we started so
many year ago. Connie is a CNN HERO for
her work with
caregiving youth and the September/October
Today’s Caregiver magazine
