What you can do:
Pay attention:
To the medications in your loved
one’s medicine chest
To how they take their medications
To their alcohol consumption
To any mood changes
To the fact that they might not be taking the
prescribed dosage
Talk:
To them – respectfully, but
directly
To their medical professionals if you suspect abuse
To appropriate treatment professionals for advice
and possible treatment options
Like everything else that we go through as family
caregivers, the first step is awareness; the second
step is fearless action.
