My husband and I are both in our mid 50s
and for the last 15 years or so he has
undergone about 20 surgeries for
osteoarthritis. He is currently having
his 5th back surgery. He suffers from
chronic pain and has not worked since 1994.
I am the sole breadwinner and myself suffer
I'm looking for a support group for spouses
that suffer with chronic pain. Is
there such a group? In all my
searching throughout the years I have not
been able to find one.

If you do not find a support group in your area, I recommend that you start one. Any church, senior center or community center would be happy to host this group. You will be amazed at the number of people who will respond to coming to a support group for caregivers. The hardest part is finding the materials to discuss. I am happy to send you the materials and books we have used and discussed. Sign up for our weekly e-mail posts and discussions - www.theheartofthecaregiver.com.

Please visit the Well Spouse Assn. at www.wellspouse.org - a national support organization just for SPOUSAL caregivers - many many resources to help you cope and share your trials with others going through the same trials.

There is a program that was designed by Stanford University called Chronic Disease Self Management. The sessions are being held all over the world now and there should be one close to you. It will help you as you provide care for your spouse and yourself. It is not to be used in place of your physician's care but along with it. I would check on the web to find one closest to your area.

Try www.carepages.com or www.yahoogroups.com or
These are free sites, you will have to sign in (password, etc.)and type in what you are looking for (ex: chronic pain). You can also open your own free-page. The carepage I find extremely helpful is ZaksAngels, carepageforprayer, and yahoogroups > abinews2U. My son has brain injury and I care for him at home. Hope this helps
