Stay positive. Take care of yourself so that you can provide proper care for your loved one. My 93-year-old mom has advanced Alzheimer's / dementia. She fell and broke her hip and now she is failing to thrive. I serve her several small meals daily and all her favorite junk food. I ask God to give me patience a lot. I try to keep smiling, even when I'm crying on the inside. So, smile...

Once, when Mom had a stroke, she had to be hospitalized for a short time. I stayed with her 24/7. One of the silly things I did that made her laugh was paint her fingernails and toenails a bright purple. She always had prided herself on her long fingernails and kept them painted a light pink.
