I believe that I have the unique distinction of being the only person traveling to Ohio this week who is not running for office, working for someone running for office or reporting on the people running for office.  The P.A. system at the Columbus airport sounded like it was announcing the new fall cable television lineup.  “Mr. /Ms. (fill in name of major political reporter), please meet your party at baggage claim.”  Although the elections are extremely interesting for a political junkie, I was in Ohio for something even more interesting, important, educational, and even fun.

Sharing Wisdom
Sleep Aids From Amanda I find that taking even a short, relaxing soak in a warm tub before turning in for the night to be a great aid. From S. A.  in Arizona I have found that repetitive prayer helps lull me into sleep after a day that should exhaust both mind and body. I am Catholic, so I pray the rosary, but any repetitive prayer should work. Just tell yourself beforehand that it is okay if you only say a few prayers before you fall asleep or you'll be creating a whole new set of problems! (smile) Good luck! From A caregiver in Delaware I am not a great sleeper, but I find that if I write a list of what's on my mind—even little things like having to make a phone call the next day or send a thank you note or take out the trash, it's not on my mind anymore so I don't have to worry about it.  This allows me to go to sleep and rest without worrying about the details of the next day. The best ideas and solutions for taking care of  your  loved one often come from other caregivers. Please post your ideas and insights and we will share them with your fellow caregivers.
