Sharing Wisdom

From TJ in WV

Life is too fragile and can change in an instant. Everyone needs to document their wishes in the event they would become unable to tell others. We never know; life is always changing. We make decisions about our lives all the time; this is just another part of that.  Advance directives and living wills do make a difference. Mine have been completed for some time.  It's not an easy subject, but families need to discuss it. Remember, it's your choice to make and it makes it easier for your family. They won't have to agonize over a decision they have made on your behalf. Discuss it and do it.  Complete your advance directives today.

From  Claudette in FL

If you can't leave your loved one alone for at least a couple hours now and then, I suggest calling your local churches. Many have volunteers who are willing to "adult sit" so you can run errands, go out to lunch with a friend, etc. It's a real morale lifter to take a well-needed break. Don’t let your pride get in the way.

The best ideas and solutions for taking care of  your  loved one often come from other caregivers. Please post your ideas and insights and we will share them with your fellow caregivers.
