Sharing Wisdom

From  Alphonsa in Malaysia
I am a 58-year-old single person caring for my 87-year-old mother who has Alzheimer’s. Each day I remind myself to be of good cheer to make her final days comfortable. I give her big hugs to let her know I am there for her always. I look her in the eyes when I talk to her and if she repeats her sentences, I pretend that I am hearing them for the first time. I help her bathe and I cook the meals for the five of us (my widowed sister and two daughters are with us, too). When stressed out, the others relieve me and I go for walks. Mum has been cooperative and that has made caregiving much easier.
