The Fear Factor

A reader asked me recently about how we can talk about “fearless caregiving” since there is so very much fear inherent in caregiving.  She found the fact that we could use the word “fearless” when talking about caregiving to be, at best, unrealistic.

What a wonderful question to start off the New Year. I would be lying if I said that I do not feel fear when dealing with any new challenge to a loved one’s health and well-being...continued

From Tippy2 in MO

Dealing with an oxygen hose: A person on oxygen from a concentrator frequently catches the hose on corners or chair legs when moving around the house. You can solve this problem by purchasing some "pour spouts" from the local paint store or hardware store. These pour spouts are round plastic for use on the top of paint cans. They can be trimmed to fit under chair legs or door corners, or any place a hose catches.  They can be tacked or taped to hold them in place. Try it;  they work.

From Rubetta in OK

My dad passed away Christmas night 1968 and my mother, who had cancer, always made Christmas special with lots of family and friends. I recently lost my husband of 41 years and I'm very determined to keep Christmas special for my children and grandchildren. I love lights (God is light) and staying close to God keeps me hopeful for a much brighter future! God bless you all and let God bless you daily...not just at Christmas.
