From Mary Joan in Texas
Find a way to take a few days respite.  I have been taking care of my husband since 2007.  Our family doctor said time off is necessary for this long road ahead. I resisted initially.  Finally, I called a retreat house and asked if I could stay two days and two nights.  Yes!  I asked family members to help out and stayed near home in case of emergency.  It was such a gift of time.  Please try it if you can find the help and funds. Our doctor said, “Good; do it again in six months.”  This time, I am planning and saving ahead—perhaps three days and nights.
