Discount Cards -
plus a $600 Credit Almost everyone with Medicare
is eligible for a Medicare-approved drug discount card
that may lower the price of most prescriptions.
Millions of people
with lower-incomes can receive even more help - up to
$600 in credits to pay for prescription drugs. The
savings are good through 2005. But those who are
eligible must act by March 31, 2005 to get the full
benefit.
The First Step:
Activate the Card at 1-800-MEDICARE
Your loved
ones might have already received a card in the mail that
entitles them to the $600 credit. To use the
credit, a card must first be activated. You can
help. Just call 1-800-MEDICARE
(1-800-633-4227). 1-800 MEDICARE operators
can check for eligibility while you're on the phone, and
help you to enroll your loved ones. The
representatives at 1-800-MEDICARE can also help
you decide if an alternative card will provide your
loved one with greater savings. No card? No
problem.
Who Qualifies for
the Credit People whose monthly income is less
than $1,048 (single) or $1,406 (married) are eligible.
There's a $600 credit available for 2005. Your
loved ones must act before March 31 to take advantage of
the full credit. Even if your loved ones act after March
31 (but before the end of the year), they might still be
eligible for a portion of the credit.
