Thinking

By Darlene Totten

He sits in his chair and he thinks
His brain is hurt from the strokes he’s had.
He sits in his chair and he thinks
Trying to figure things out on his own.
He sits in his chair and he thinks
What year is this, what’s the date today?
He sits in his chair and he thinks
“Are there any phone calls?” he asks. “What’s new?”
He sits in his chair and he thinks
Is everything okay? What’s going on today?
He sits in his chair and he thinks
Then he turns on the news and gets most of his answers as
He sits in his chair and he thinks.
